Life, Day 3, First $0 Day
Chantix is still going good. Still smoking, but I can see a (small but) noticeable reduction of smoking… I.e., I’m going outside less. That’s a good deal.
Last night I really didn’t get around to creating my spending plan, spent too much time dabbling in various software packages available for Linux to help build a budget. Honestly, I found nothing useful, so I might just have to hammer it out in a spreadsheet (ugh). I really want something that doesn’t necessarily track my accounts, but rather just lets me create a simple budget and track specific transactions against it. Of course, this would involve all my transactions, but I just want it to follow month to month, not track every ounce of my financial well being… My online bank already does that for me.
I might have to just take some of my programming prowess and write a budgeting application that will do what I want it to do. Maybe even throw in some nice logic to have it text me throughout the day and ridicule my spending habits or praise me when I don’t spend… Now that would be good, have it tie into my online banking account and when it sees a stupid transaction, have it start emailing and texting me that I’m screwing up… kinda like a wife would… haha… eh… anyways.
Did really good today with the no-spending thing. Didn’t purchase a coke on the way to work, held on to my styrofoam cup from yesterday (you’re welcome, Mother Earth). And remembered to bring my lunch. Added bonus: Today was free-lunch-to-sit-through-a-presentation day, where they bring in free food at work for people who sit through a lunch-time presentation on whatever it is for the day. So I took that up, and left my lunch in the fridge until tomorrow.
Ex-GF just invited me over for dinner. Her treat, of course…
Total expenditures today - $0. I like that.
