Pedal down, on ramp, trigger pulled, I read “P-O-L-I-C-E”, foot hits brake…

but not fast enough.

My first “emergency” attack on my tight and aggressive budget would come, sure enough, from my own stupidity. Coming back from picking up the girls this weekend, getting on the interstate, I let the Charger get away from me and got pegged for 80 in a 65.

Ouch.

That’s going to cost me. Even taking the class that Texas allows you to take to throw out a speeding ticket once a year, I’m still looking at court costs + class costs totaling over $100. :(

So, as I see it, I have three options:

  1. Bite into my snowball on it’s next spin around (payday) and take out the costs of the ticket. This puts me $100+ behind in my plan, but no pain on me to have to stretch the weekly budget any further.
  2. Stretch the budget further. I have 3 months from the court date (April 8th) to pay and complete the course. This is 7 paydays, so I can take a little bit out of each one. I’ll feel a pinch for a little while, but my plan doesn’t slow down, and I pay for the stupidity now, teaching myself and my lead foot a lesson.
  3. I can do as suggested by bettergoalsetter from bettergoalsetter.com, auction off the showing of my backside in my tighty-whities for paypal donations, ala the great, retired, Michael Jordan.

I think I’ve ruled out #1, I’m on an AGGRESSIVE budget, and even though I have extra money coming in, I don’t want to take it out. In fact, anything I’ve earned up until today that was to go to my snowball still is, and that includes my existing rolling snowball.

I’ve ruled out #3, because I don’t own any tighty-whities. I’d have to go buy some, which is not in the budget.

So I guess I’m going with number #2. I’m gonna take a hit on every weekly budget till it’s paid for, or go find additional ways to raise money that I hadn’t planned on before to raise up the $100+. In my mind, I don’t have the money to pay it now, so I have to go earn it. I’m not taking it from existing funds, because I’m more aggressive than that.

Anyway, I hope everyone had a Happy Easter with your families, I know I did.
